The way to begin such a project is to first dig a really big hole, and then while you are digging the hole, search in the hole for inspiration. Something will always come out of the hole - but it will not always be what you expect.

This year we dug the big hole, and there seemed to be something inside, but it turned out to be a giant roast chicken, which we hadn't really been banking on.

Anyway, you cannot argue with the hole, it is what it is. The main problem was that we were digging the hole, but we were expecting a monster to match last years. And that is a mistake. Besides which the sea came in and swallowed the roast chicken before we had time to get it finished, which was just as well really.
